Goals which are not attached to a specific time frame are easy to ignore when life gets busy. It is particularly easy to deprioritise things which you perceive will be hard or will force you to do things which are outside of your comfort zone; unfortunately, to meet challenging goals, you usually have to do both of these things.

The first step is usually to break larger goals down into small goals and have set dates when you plan to meet particular milestones.  Then, come up with a mechanism to keep yourself accountable for meeting these milestones. This may be by having a personal checklist where you sign off as you reach milestones. You can put reminders in your calendar to keep you on track. Alternatively, you could have a friend, family member, or work colleague who you ask to check up on your progress at specific points.  The key thing is not to procrastinate or prioritise other things: as Pablo Picasso once said: "Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone."
